Day 1: Lisbon

Welcome to Portugal and to the grand city of Lisbon. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is for free time.

Day 2: Lisbon

Let’s start the morning with a sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissipo, driving through its main squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, the Monument to the Discoverers, the Marquis of Pombal Square, and Liberty Avenue. Free time in the afternoon is for you to get to know the oldest town in western Europe, catch the nostalgic corners of the Alfama Quarter, or take the famous number 28 Lisbon tram passing through the popular tourist districts of Graca, Alfama, Baixa, and Estrela. In the evening you can join option dinner with fado show

Day 3: Lisbon – Sintra – Cabo da Roca – Cascias – Estoril – Lisbon

Today is a sightseeing day in Sintra. This morning you will drive northwest about half an hour to the dreamy, fairytale-esque town of Sintra. This wealthy and manicured historic town has been the home to Portuguese aristocrats, European nobility, and eccentric foreigners for centuries, and its villas and palaces peek out of the lush trees that rise majestically out of the Serra de Sintra. After that we continue to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost cape in Continental Europe. On our way we will also visit Cascais, a picturesque fishing town with some quirky museums, beautiful gardens, and a lively fish market and Estoril, a former fishing town turned cosmopolitan destination for well-heeled travelers. We return to Lisbon in the afternoon. Res tof the day is free. Night in Lisbon.

Day 4: Lisbon – Obidos – Nazare – Batalha – Fatima – Seville

In the morning we depart towards the north with the first stop in Obidos, a charming village of white houses on a hill, surrounded by fourteenth century’s walls. You will have a chance to taste a famous cherry liquor. Then we continue to possibly the most famous and picturesque Portuguese fishing town of Nazaré, unique in many ways and with an atmosphere of times gone by. We will then visit Batalha Monastery. Its gothic structure is beautifully preserved and it is complimented by ornation in Manueline style. Marvel at the structure and at the many delicate carvings, no wonder it is a Unesco World Heritage site. Finaly we arrive to Fatima, the center of the Christian Faith on the Iberian Peninsula and a World Pilgrimage Sanctuary, with its impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria. Night in Fatima.

Day 5: Fatima – Bucaco – Tomar – Coimbra

In the morning, we travel to Tomar where we will visit the Luso-Hebrew Museum. We then proceed towards Buçaco to visit the famous Buçaco Forest. Our final destination today will be we Coimbra. This is the city seat of one of the oldest universities in Europe and the birthplace of Fado, Portuguese folk music. We will visit the University, one of the oldest in the world, with its magnificent baroque library and its unique atmosphere characterized by ancient traditions and customs such as the black student capes and the melancholic Fado music. In the city centre, there is a chance to admire Coimbra’s exclusive ceramics. Night in Coimbra.

Day 6: Coimbra – Aveiro – Duoro Valley – Porto

On our way to Duoro River Valley we will make a stop in Aveiro and Costa Nova for an orientation tour. and then travel through the Douro Valley, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Traditionally, the wines from this region were transported down-river in flat-bottomed boats called “rabelos”. The wine was stored in barrels in cellars of the Vila Nova de Gaia, just across the river from Porto. After our lunch with wine tasting in the Douro Valley, we continue to Porto.

Day 7: Porto

This morning you will get to know the city on a guided walking tour, visiting the stunning Arab room of the Stock Exchange, churches, and the typical blue & white tilework coloring the old town. The visit will end at town’s famous wine cellars for a wine tasting. After a boat trip with spectacular city views the afternoon is on your own. We will give you some suggestions on how to spend your free time and have lunch somewhere local. Night in Porto.

Day 8: Porto

At the indicated time you will be transferred to the airport and begin your journey home.
