Day 1: Madrid

Welcome to Spain and to the grand city of Madrid. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy your free time to explore Spain’s capital city, which has been and still is Europe’s cultural capital. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 2: Madrid

After breakfast, you will embark on a panoramic city tour of Madrid; a rather logical initiation into any Spain and Morocco tour. Overflowing with palaces, museums, and grand squares, Madrid is a truly majestic city. We will see the historical and architectural highlights, as well as contemporary Madrid, including the commercial and financial districts, the Las Ventas Bullring, and a spectacular sight for all football aficionados, the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium. In your free afternoon, explore this grand city on your own. It deserves it. Stroll through its streets, visit a museum, and enjoy some people watching over a cafe con leche or a copa de vino. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3: Madrid – Caceres – Cordoba

This morning we drive westwards towards Caceres, the province’s capital, which was declared a World Heritage City on account of the amazing stories it has to tell. After all, it is not called the Ciudad Monumental for no reason. With its Roman, Moorish, and conquistador architecture and surrounded by medieval walls and stork-topped watchtowers, it actually managed to avoid the worst of Europe’s wars and remain surprisingly intact, becoming the first Spanish city to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stroll through the old town, soak up all the stories and histories before continuing south towards Cordoba, once the capital of the Caliphate. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 4: Cordoba – Seville

We will take a guided tour of the city considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, visiting the Mezquita or Mosque-Cathedral, one of the most impressive buildings you will see on this Spain and Morocco tour, the city’s atmospheric Jewish quarter, the Juderia, with its intricate network of lanes and buildings, decorated in wrought iron, and other city sites under the auspices of UNESCO. We then continue on towards Seville, the capital of Southern Spain and a city not to be missed on any Spain and Morocco tour, both for its beauty and its lively atmosphere, the city of Carmen, Don Juan, and Figaro. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 5: Seville

We discover grand Seville on a morning sightseeing tour, including the famous Royal Alcázar, the Cathedral of Santa Maria (the second-largest in the Catholic world after St. Peter’s in Rome), the Santa Cruz quarter (a backdrop in “Carmen”, and precisely where the myth of “Don Juan” developed), Maria Luisa Park, and Plaza de España. Afternoon free time is for you to explore and enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors of this vibrant city. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel. In the evening you may opt for a Flamenco Tour, not because it is usually a part of any decent Spain and Morocco tour, but because this dance is as passionate and mysterious as the city itself.

Day 6: Seville – Ronda – Costa Del Sol

After breakfast we head south, enjoying the landscape and stopping in Ronda, one of Andalusia’s famous ‘white’ villages, loaded with history. It was built on a rocky outcrop and split in half by a deep river gorge, named the El Tajo, which was created by the river Guadalevin. The river is spanned by an 18th-century arched bridge, the Puento Nuevo, and tall whitewashed houses are perched along the edge. One of the most picturesque places to visit in Spain, Orson Wells and Ernest Hemingway both lived here for a while, and one of the scenes in the book For Whom the Bell Tolls takes place in Ronda. You will take some free time to stroll through the quaint town. Continue on to the Costa del Sol, the perfect playground for sun worshipers on any Spain and Morocco tour. Day 7: Costa Del Sol

A free day on Costa del Sol means having a full-day siesta on one of the beaches or finding beautiful landscapes, fabulous beaches, delicious food, golf courses, and exploring interesting customs and traditions. Much more than just a pretty beach, it may unveil its marvelous secrets, especially if you opt for one of the optional tours. Breakfast, dinner, and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 8: Costa Del Sol – Tarifa – Tangier – Casablanca

We start our day with a stunning drive along the picturesque Costa del Sol to Tarifa, where we cross the strait of Gibraltar by ferry and head towards Africa. This is where Spain and Morocco shake their hands. After disembarking in Tangier, we drive southwards to Casablanca, Morocco’s largest town, often overlooked by travelers, but actually a vibrant hub of fascinating architecture, great restaurants, and real mix of grit and style. It was also the imaginary backdrop of one of the most famous movies of all times. Explore it during your free afternoon. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 9: Casablanca – Marrakech

Do Spain and Morocco, both popular countries for travellers, have cultural and historical connections, or does each country have its own culture and history? Let’s explore after breakfast, when we take a panoramic tour through the most interesting sections of the city, including Anfa Boulevard, Nations square, residential areas, and the outside of the Hassan II grand mosque.

We then head to Marrakech, the magical ‘Rose City’, blessed with fine gardens, palaces, and mosques, the real heartbeat of Morocco, located in an oasis between the Atlas Mountains and the area before the vast desert. We will visit the Koutoubia Tower, the twin tower of the Giralda in Seville, the Saadines Tombs, and Bay Palace, walk around the medina, souks, and soak in the unique atmosphere of Marrakech’s main square, Jemaa el-Fnaa, packed with fortune tellers, snake tamers, acrobats, and dancers, and more. A feast for all senses and your camera. Dinner and accommodation at hotel.

Day 10: Marrakech – Rabat – Meknes – Fez

In the morning our tour takes us to Rabat, Morocco’s administrative capital, often left off the popular tourist circuits, but not missed on our Spain and Morocco tour. Rabat is a fabulous destination and can arguably be called the most ‘chill’ city in Morocco. We will visit the exterior of the Royal Palace, the Mohamed V Mausoleum, and the Hassan Tower. We will then continue to the Imperial City of Meknes, one of the four Moroccan “Imperial Cities”, a relaxed, lesser-known tourist attraction, but still an impressive place with unique places to visit, such as the loveliest and grandest “bab” or ancient door in all of Morocco, called Bab Mansour, or the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the only mosque in all of Morocco where non-Muslims are allowed. Later that day we arrive in Fez, one of the richest cities, historically, in the entire world as well as the cultural and spiritual center of the country. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 11: Fez

Did you know that the Fez medina (old town) is one of the largest car-free zones in the world and is a UNESCO world heritage site? This morning we will explore the narrow, cobbled lanes and covered souks of this famous medina, visiting the 7 gates of the Royal Palace, the Jewish Quarters or Mellah, the gate of Bab Bou Jealous, and so much more. Fez is regarded as the most beautiful imperial city in this North African country, and that has everything to do with the beautiful and exotic sights that hide behind the walls of this fairytale city. Explore the maze of Fez by yourself in your free afternoon, then heading to dinner and accommodation at the hotel. You may also opt for an optional local dinner with a show.

Day 12: Fez – Tangier – Tarifa – Costa Del Sol

Today we depart for Tangier, boarding the ferry back across the strait of Gibraltar, where Spain and Morocco say hello again and we then drive towards the Costa del Sol. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 13: Costa Del Sol

Breakfast, dinner, and accommodation at the hotel. A great place to have a free day, few places conjure up such evocative images on hearing its name as the Costa del Sol (Sunny coast) and its 325 sunny days per year. It is the original sun, sea, and sand destination, but also more – Flamenco, golf, white washed villages, and, most of all, a laid-back approach to life. Optional tours available.

Day 14: Costa Del Sol – Granada

After breakfast we depart towards the city of Granada, the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up to 1492. We visit the famously colourful Alhambra and the beautifully manicured Generalife Gardens, former place of leisure for the kings of Granada, an inspiration for several authors with its sound and sights, such as in the Tales of the Alhambra by W. Irving. Enjoy your free afternoon in the city, which for many embodies the essence of Spain – the spirited people, rich history, warm climate, narrow streets with flower pots, traditional Flamenco shows. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel, with an optional Gipsy Flamenco show at Sacromonte Square, and maybe discuss what Spain and Morocco have in common over a glass of vino.

Day 15: Granada – Toledo – Madrid

Today we drive northward, where the sky opens up, past Castilla and the Tagus River, to the impressive Imperial city of Toledo – World Heritage City – where in the 13th century Christians, Moors, and Jews lived together. Its churches, mosques, and synagogues combine with other buildings from this era to give Toledo its unique and attractive combination of architectural styles. A real thriving hub of Spanish art, history, and spirituality, the whole town is a National Monument. We will enjoy a short guided tour of this historical old town through its narrow lanes and then visit the famous “Damasquinado” (gold and silver inlaying in iron) factory. At last, we continue to Madrid and conclude our tour of Spain and Morocco.

Day 16: Madrid

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport and begin your journey home.

  • This tour might be a combination of different programs. If applicable, there might be a change in the tour escort and passengers between the programs.
  • During the stay in Costa del Sol, the tour escort service will not be available.
  • Only one piece of luggage per person is allowed. Passengers must go through customs control with their own luggage.
  • Passport details are required at least 72 hours in advance to the tour’s departure.
  • The Morocco portion can be modified without substantial variation in services.
